October 3-5 we are celebrating the 25th annual Pelican Festival at Grand Lake in Grove, OK. There is art shows, music and lots of activites for family fun as well as taking a drive around the lake to see these manificent birds as they make these seasonal migration south. We suggest starting at the festival and driving around the Grove area first. Look around the Elk River arm of Grand Lake, the Wolf Creek are and Carey Bay. You might want to go to Sailboat Bridge and catch a ride on the Cherokee Queen to see the sites and Pelicans. Work your way ove to Monkey Island, only about a 15 minute drive then to the Horse Creek area by the Bernice Stae Park. You can continue all the way to the Duck Creek are, Ketchum and the dam. It's a great way to spend a sunny fall day. Free lake maps are avilable at the Grand Lake Association VISITOR CENTER.
